Adapting Your Communication - Latornell Conservation Symposium

On November 19th Tangible Words will be presenting "Adapting Your Communication for a New Climate" at the Latornell Conservation Symposium in Alliston, Ontario.Conservation Symposium
Adapting Your Communication for a New Climate is aimed at communicating climate change messages to your online audience—without their eyes glazing over—by changing the way you plan, write and present your online content. By understanding how websites, and online audiences, have evolved you can meet the higher user expectations for online content and help them understand, accept, and act on your climate change messages.

The Tangible Words presentation will help you better prepare your community for climate change based on content marketing thought leaders’ concepts that include:

  • Using simple language to improve audience understanding of climate change and help overcome objections to and boredom with the message. Overcoming internal resistance to a new way of communicating the science (to help put the idea into perspective: comparing staff resistance to a communication change with general public resistance to accepting climate change).
  • Using a copywriting style and target audience-based website layout to catch and hold your audience’s attention and lead them to the information they are looking for—not making them figure it out for themselves. Identifying online user patterns and using a Content Plan/Communication Strategy to ensure you are communicating the right information at the right time.
  • Consistently connecting your messages to your audiences using an editorial calendar to manage promotional tools, such as event calendars, and implement social media strategies to promote actions to help residents adapt to climate change, recruit “citizen scientist” volunteers, and better publicize events.
