How to keep your business Twitter account safe from Tweet spam
Has this ever happened to you? You’re diligently working away at your business Twitter account (because you know how good Twitter is for business). You miss a few days checking your profile stream and realize you’ve been following someone who has changed their profile…or maybe you didn’t read their profile clearly enough when you decided to follow them.
Most people advise you on the Internet that it’s courteous to follow others when they are following you. But what happens if someone you follow goes rogue?
It might sound paranoid, but anybody could change their profile to something you really don’t want your followers seeing.
Advice to safe Twitter following so you avoid embarrassing messages on your profile
1) Twitter is not about courtesy so much as it is about connecting like minded individuals. Be careful about who you decide to follow on Twitter by carefully reading user profiles. If a Tweeter’s interests do not align with yours, do not feel pressure to accept them just because they are following you (they could be Tweet spam!).
2) Keep a close eye on new Tweeters you follow to make sure their tweets won’t damage your reputation. You may only come on Twitter a few times a week, but you need to at least scroll the messages on your Twitter home feed to make sure other people’s tweets won’t offend you or your followers.
